Contribution of Low SES to SF Burden of Disease

Precise estimates of the effects of poverty on the overall burden of disease and injury in San Francisco are difficult. The following the table below shows median household income and % below poverty for the City as a whole and for each zip code. The zip code links lead to web-based depictions of the leading causes of premature mortality. The various zips cannot be directly compared, as they differ demographically, but the poorest neighborhoods have leading causes of premature mortality that are different from the wealthiest neighborhoods.
