Heat Illness Prevention Seminars- May -June 2007- All throughout California

These seminars are provided by the Cal/OSHA Consultation Service and State Compensation Insurance Fund and is designed to inform California employers and their supervisors about Heat Illness Prevention. The seminars are available in English or Spanish. Learn how heat illness prevention applies to employees and how you can meet the Cal/OSHA standard by updating and implementing your Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) to reflect the new requirements. The workshop will include a presentation on Heat Illness Prevention and the importance of having an effective IIPP.

The Health Care Sector: A Dialogue on Organizational Practices to Prevent Violence Against Women-June 22, 2007-11:00am-12:30pm PST


On June 22, 2007 at 11:00 am PST, the Prevention Institute and the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault will host "The Health Care Sector: A Dialogue on Organizational Practices to Prevent Violence Against Women." This conference is one of a series of open dialogues that will highlight specific organizational practices from the health care sector to promote primary prevention of violence against women. 2007 National Injury and Violence Prevention Research Conference - October 10-11, 2007- Columbus, Ohio

The Society for Advancement for Violence and Injury Prevention (SAVIR) along with the Columbus Children's Hospital, will host the first national injury and violence research conference on October 10-11, 2007 in Columbus, Ohio. The objectives of the conference are to 1) identify and evaluate recent injury & violence research findings in the areas of qualitative, quantitative, and translational research, 2) organize across disciplines to address the unique challenges faced by researchers and public health professionals in injury and violence prevention, and 3) recognize and potentially solve methodological issues encountered in injury and violence research. Research abstracts will be accepted until July 15, 2007.

Save the Date! Discover the Connections! Bridging Strategies to Prevent Child Injury and Maltreatment- February 24-26, 2008-Sacramento, CA

The California Department of Public Health and the California Department of Social Services will host "Discover Connections," the first combined conference on Child and Adolescent Injury and Maltreatment Prevention. The conference will initiate discovery on how attendees can collaborate and learn from each other to ensure that every child enjoys a healthy life in a nurturing environment and community. 9th World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion- March 15-18, 2008- Merida, Mexico

The 9th World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion will take place in Merida, Mexico on March 15-18, 2007. The conference will focus on the processes of globalization and its implications for injuries and violence. The main themes will be Violence and Traffic Accidents.
