What is public health?

Public health is "…what we, as a society, do collectively to assure the conditions in which people can be healthy." — Institute of Medicine, 1988

Some twentieth century examples of this definition include advances in motor-vehicle safety, the decline in cigarette smoking, fluoridation of drinking water, and regulations to insure workplace safety. Each of these examples required social changes and political compromises. They were the result of collaborations among academia, businesses, media, health care delivery systems, governmental agencies, and communities.

We specialize in working with communities to promote collaborations that will assure the conditions in which people can be healthy.
